MALLET Meets GW Harrison: The Interview

On paper, GW Harrison’s world looks like one long party. The reality – as he’s quick to tell you – is something else entirely. We met up with the London DJ and producer in the West End to get into the music, the grind, and the city that shaped both his work and ours.

For the shoot, GW wore two pairs from our men’s designer trainers collectionAlton and Lansbury – built for pace, polish, and repeat wear.

A Quick Q&A With GW Harrison

First things first – what does the morning look like for you?

GW: Straight to the coffee machine. Double espresso, every time. I’d love to say it’s straight to the gym, but honestly, without the caffeine I’d take much longer to get going!

When it comes to the creative side, is there a rule you always come back to?

GW: Never force it. The best ideas come naturally. It’s taken me too many years to work that out. Whether it was sitting in the studio with nothing to work from, or staring at a screen waiting for inspiration to show up, you just learn that it doesn’t work like that.

What do people tend to get wrong about what you do?

GW: That I just get paid to party. There’s so much more going on behind the scenes than people realise. Late nights, early mornings, no sleep. Hours of preparation and digging for music. It’s a craft.

What does the ritual look like before you actually sit down to create?

GW: A good night’s sleep, a clear mind, exercise and more coffee, obviously.

MALLET is very much a London brand – the city runs through everything we do. How has London shaped your work?

GW: London’s been a huge part of my life. Before music, I was a designer, and I’ve always been inspired by the people and culture around me, both creatively and musically. London gives back every time. There’s still nowhere in the world that beats the city on a sunny day. It just comes to life, and your mood lifts instantly.

The Pairs From The Shoot: Alton & Lansbury

GW’s uniform for the day sits in a very London lane: clean shapes, controlled contrast, and footwear that looks considered from the side view.

MALLET Alton and Lansbury are two ways of doing that – one technical and graphic, one stripped-back and all about finish.

The Alton

The Alton is a modern West End sneaker – technical, chunky, and built around pace. Premium materials give it depth, with subtle reflective hits that sharpen the profile without turning it into a gimmick.

THE LANSBURY

The Lansbury is the clean low-top, finished properly. A disciplined silhouette with quiet deboss branding and minimal hardware, built to stay sharp in the rotation.

More From MALLET: London-Born Design

London runs through this conversation for a reason: it’s a city that rewards pace and precision. You see it in the way GW talks about craft, and it’s the same thinking behind MALLET. Our focus remains on disciplined detail and designer footwear to be worn often, not saved.

That design ethos runs through everything we make. Built to inspire, but grounded in repeat wear – what we’d call wearable luxury. Shop the full men’s and women’s ranges below.
